Day 1: Tangier – Chefchaouen

Our 9 days tour from Tangier to Merzouga and Marrakech starts with a pick-up at the airport or the port. Tangier is known as the oldest international city in the north of Morocco. After a short visit exploring places of interest such as; the old Spanish quarter, Dar El Mandoub Museum, the Plaza of April 9, 1947, the American Legation building which was the first American public property outside the United States and the Kasbah of Tangier. Then, we will go to Chefchaouen, the famous city of blue buildings located among the Rif mountains, so between the two, they form a spectacular landscape. After having tea in the riad in Chefchaouen, we will have free time to explore its alleys, squares, souks, and most important monuments such as; the citadel of Chefchaouen built in the fifteenth century… Dinner and overnight at the riad in Chefchaouen.

Day 2: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes

After breakfast on the second day of the 9 days tour from Tangier to Merzouga and Marrakech, we will leave for Fes, the traditional capital of Morocco and the spiritual capital of the country. The city treasures the greatest cultural heritage of the entire kingdom. The city was declared a cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO with a spectacular old medina with different buildings. The city also displays the best and most delicate crafts in all of Morocco. Before reaching our destination, we will visit Volubilis, the ancient Roman capital in North Africa. Then, we will continue our 9 days tour from Tangier to Merzouga and Marrakech to Fes. Dinner and overnight at the riad in Fes.

Day 3: Fes cultural day tour

After having breakfast in the riad, the local guide will take us to discover a much deeper Fes, during our tour of the city, we will visit the Royal Palace, the ceramic workshop and the Borj Nord, from where you can see one of the best panoramic views of the city. We will get to know its old medina, declared a cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO, with innumerable historical buildings such as the Attarine Medersa (koranic school) built in 1310, the space where skins are tanned called Chouwara in which you can see the medieval system of elaboration of tanning, we will also visit the Bab el Jeloud door (the blue door) and the Jewish quarter. In the afternoon, we will return to the Riad, where we will have dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Valley of Ziz – Merzouga desert

We will have breakfast in the riad and the 9 days tour from Tangier to Merzouga and Marrakech will take us towards the Erg Chebbi desert crossing the Middle Atlas. We will go through Ifrane, a town known as the little Moroccan Switzerland, because the shape of the houses, and the vegetation, are reminiscent of a northern European country. The cedar forests are very beautiful and the exuberant vegetation of that area makes the views of the landscape very beautiful. Also in that area, the population of Azrou is known for its handicrafts. We will make stops for you to enjoy the views and for free food. Then we will continue our trip passing through cultural and Berber towns; Errachidía and Erfoud. We will stop at the Ziz Valley, full of beautiful landscapes that will give you the impression of being inside a biblical-themed movie, with the largest palm grove in the country, that stretches along the Ziz River inside a fabulous canyon. The whole area is full of small towns with great charm. We will arrive in the afternoon night at our destination, Merzouga in the middle of the Erg Chebbi desert. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel in Merzouga.

Day 5: Merzouga desert trip

After breakfast, we will travel by 4×4 to the town of Khamlia, a desert village 7km away from Merzouga to live a special part of our 9 days tour from Tangier to Merzouga and Marrakech.

A different itinerary on this occasion will show us the culture of its inhabitants, the Gnawa, a population of Senegalese and Ghanaian origins, with live performances of their traditional music and dance and a sample of their instruments, mostly percussion with which they dance and accompany each other in their songs. Then, we will visit the town of Rissani, we will know its animal and craft markets. We will have a traditional Berber pizza for lunch and return to the hotel. After a short break, we will ride camels that will take us to a point in the dunes, from which we will contemplate the sunset. We will continue a little more towards the heart of the desert and we will reach the great dune, and shortly to our camp. Dinner and accommodation in that environment give us an unrepeatable starry sky and the tranquillity of the desert.

Day 6: Merzouga – Todgha gorges – Dades gorges

Another interesting town that we will visit is Skoura, the town that treasures the largest number of kasbahs. The next town to visit is Ouarzazate with the great kasbah of the Glaoui. Leaving the national highway we will arrive at one of the most interesting places in Morocco, recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, which is the famous Ait Ben Haddou. Fortified town, entirely built on rammed earth, with some restored kasbahs and set for many films such as Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth, etc.

After free lunch, in the afternoon our 9 days tour from Tangier to Merzouga and Marrakech will resume through the great landscapes of the High Atlas.
